Believe it or not, all of us are affected by diabetes. In one way or another, we are living with diabetes or living in ways to prevent diabetes. There is no in-between. Come explore ways in which our community can promote prevention and awareness while having fun

About this Event

As of now, we estimate today that there are 926,000 children in Michigan who live in low-income families and are affected by the lack of access to healthy food choices. It is clear decreased access to healthy food results in people in low-income communities to suffer more from diet-related diseases. Raising Awareness with Students is dedicated to the process of awareness and prevention of the alarming rates at which illnesses like diabetes, obesity and mental health affects the minority community.

This Virtual DIACON will explore ways in which our students, parents, adults, and community residents can practice simple and easy habits towards a better lifestyle through small tactics like portion control and proper knowledge.

We will have free giveaways, guest panelists, awards and recognition, as well as free goodies to our first few registered attendees mailed right to your doorstep in time for our event!

I want people to understand how diabetes affects us because the entire side of my mother’s family has it. It will soon be much harder to get people to understand the severity of diabetes because we will all be stuck in our unhealthy eating habits.
